Florida's black bears are in danger, facing the threat of a proposed hunt by the FWC in 2025. In response to this alarming news, a group of passionate individuals has come together to form a movement that aims to protect and save these endangered animals. The project includes a narrative film that takes a unique approach to shedding light on the plight of Florida's bears.

JC Conklin is a seasoned filmmaker with over 17 years in the film and television industry, most notably credited on AMC’s The Walking Dead and as a director of feature projects starring acclaimed talent such as Dean Cain (Superman) and Kevin Sorbo (Hercules). With a career shaped by high-impact storytelling and award-winning productions, JC stepped away from the mainstream industry to pursue a deeper calling—one rooted in heart, healing, and hope.
Relocating to Mount Dora, Florida, JC now focuses his creative energy on crafting conscious media that shifts perspectives, invites compassion, and fosters a more loving world. He works alongside his wife and creative partner, Kami Conklin—a former registered nurse whose personal journey redefined her views on healing and wellness. Together, they channel their values into visionary projects that promote empathy, sustainability, and spiritual connection.
As vegan parents and land stewards of their fourth-generation homestead, the Conklins are building a food forest and raising their children to embrace their authentic voices and live with intentionality. Their lives are a testament to their mission: to honor the earth, protect vulnerable beings (including their beloved animal family), and use the power of storytelling to awaken kindness and conscious choice.
JC and Kami are currently developing projects that amplify this ethos—where every frame becomes a vessel for healing and every story a bridge toward a more awakened humanity.

Steve and Dana Rocca are the Owners of Walk in the Woods located in the heart of Mount Dora’ historic district. United by a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors, their backgrounds uniquely reflect their shared passion. Steve is from the foothills of the Adirondack mountains and grew up on his family’s generational farm. His love for the outdoors was nurtured through countless hours spent hiking and hunting. Dana, a Florida native, spent her childhood exploring her grandparents’ citrus groves and enjoying the natural beauty of the state’s lakes, springs, beaches, and the Ocala National Forest.
Guided by faith and a strong commitment to the community, Steve and Dana are active local leaders. Steve has served on the Salvation Army Board of Directors for 17 years. Dana was a youth leader for 15 years and currently serves on both the Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Mount Dora Sister Cities Association Board. She was also the volunteer coordinator for many years for the Save the Manatee Club, educating others on how to protect these beloved Florida icons.
